Event by Ungir umhverfissinnar and Antonia Hamann
Join us for a cozy Christmas afternoon dedicated to creativity, sustainability, and good company! This relaxed get-together is open to our members and anyone else who would like to join.
The heart of the event is all about unknitting / unraveling old sweaters to give the yarn a new life. Since few people enjoy gifting old sweaters, but yarn can be both expensive and incredibly valuable, unraveling is a great way to turn something forgotten into something new. The reclaimed wool can later become a fresh knitting project, or even a nice handmade gift.
No knitting experience is needed! We’ll provide sweaters ready to be unraveled so you can let your constructive destructive energy flow. You’re also welcome to bring your own old sweaters, current knitting projects, or knitting tools if you’d like to experiment with newly reclaimed yarn.
Of course, it’s not only about yarn. It’s also about slowing down, chatting, and enjoying the season together with Christmas cookies and hot oat chocolate to keep us warm and festive.
Come by, unwind, and unravel with us!
